Wine Around the World: Sip, Savor, and Discover Culture
Updated: Oct 15
What can a glass of wine teach us about culture? More than you might think!
Every wine has a story. Its origins, the people who produce it, the traditions surrounding it, and the way it is enjoyed all offer a glimpse into the culture from which it comes. In many ways, discovering a new wine is an invitation to discover something new about the world and the people who call it home.
On Thursday, November 12, Cultural Curiosity is partnering with Winestein’s Tasting Room in Grapevine, Texas, for Wine Around the World, a special evening combining international wine tasting, storytelling, and practical insights into the art of connecting across cultures.
Whether you enjoy exploring new wines, love traveling, appreciate learning about other cultures, or simply want a memorable night out, this event offers a little something for everyone.
Four Wines. Stories from Around the World.
Wine connoisseur and Winestein’s owner, Michael Einstein, will guide guests through four wine tastings featuring selections from around the world. As you sip and savor each wine, Michael will share insights into its origins, distinctive flavors, and the places and traditions connected to it.
Each tasting offers an opportunity to slow down, pay attention, ask questions, and appreciate the unique characteristics of what is in your glass. You may even discover a new favorite along the way!
But the experience doesn't stop with the wine.
Discover the World Through Cultural Curiosity
As you enjoy your tastings, Dr. Jared Sorber of Cultural Curiosity will share stories and insights from his experiences engaging with people and cultures around the world. He'll also offer practical guidance for making cross-cultural interactions more meaningful, enjoyable, and rewarding.
Culture influences how we communicate, build relationships, express hospitality, interpret behavior, and understand the world around us. Sometimes, differences in these areas can lead to misunderstandings. Other times, they open the door to new friendships, fresh perspectives, and experiences we might otherwise miss.
The difference often begins with curiosity.
Cultural intelligence is the ability to relate and adapt effectively across cultures. It starts with a willingness to learn, listen, recognize our assumptions, and consider perspectives beyond our own. Instead of approaching differences with immediate judgment, we can learn to approach them with humility, openness, and a genuine desire to understand.
These skills aren't just for international travelers or people working across borders. They're valuable whenever we interact with someone whose background, experiences, values, or expectations differ from ours.
Through engaging stories and practical takeaways, Jared will explore ways to develop that curiosity and apply it to everyday life. You'll have an opportunity to think differently about how you travel, build relationships, and enjoy the richness of human diversity.
Come for the Wine. Leave with a Fresh Perspective.
Wine Around the World is designed to be more than a tasting. It's an opportunity to enjoy an evening out while discovering new flavors, hearing stories from around the world, and exploring what it means to connect well across cultural differences.
You don't need to be a wine expert or a seasoned international traveler to participate. Just bring your curiosity and a willingness to discover something new.
Come with friends, invite someone who loves to travel, or make it a date night with a difference. You'll enjoy four international wine tastings, learn from two hosts with complementary perspectives, and leave with ideas you can put into practice long after the last glass.
The wine is from around the world. The conversation is, too.
